This site is made possible through the support of Real American Hardwood Coalition, a volunteer group of industry leaders dedicated to the growth, promotion, and long-term sustainability of the American hardwood industry.

The Real American hardwood Coalition is an industry-wide US promotion and education initiative focused on increasing awareness of the unique benefits of American hardwood products. By highlighting the natural beauty, durability, renewability, and versatility of Real American Hardwood, the Coalition works to strengthen demand, support responsible forestry, and improve stability across the hardwood supply chain.

Their sponsorship of this project reflects a shared commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and the continued success of an industry rooted in American forests and American values.

Nothing Beats the Real Thing

The Beauty of Naturally Authentic®

Real American Hardwood® is more than a building material — it is a living expression of nature’s craftsmanship. Each board carries a story written in grain patterns, cellular structure, and growth rings that can never be duplicated. No two pieces are ever the same, because no two trees ever grow the same.

While many products attempt to imitate the warmth, texture, and character of real wood, authentic hardwood stands alone. It is not manufactured to look natural — it is natural. Grown with purpose, shaped by time, and renewed through responsible forestry, hardwood represents a powerful connection to the land.

When you choose Real American Hardwood®, you choose substance over simulation. You choose depth, warmth, and integrity that only the real thing can provide.

Quality That Lasts for Generations

An Investment in Enduring Value

Hardwood is not just a design decision — it is a long-term investment.

Unlike synthetic alternatives such as laminate or vinyl that typically require replacement after 10–25 years, Real American Hardwood floors and products are built to last over a century. They do not wear out — they mature. Over time, they can be refinished, renewed, and reimagined to match evolving styles without ever losing their structural integrity.

In fact, hardwood often increases a home’s overall value. According to the National Association of REALTORS®, homeowners can recover up to 147% of the cost of refinishing wood flooring at resale. Few materials offer that kind of return.

Hardwood is the only flooring material that can be refreshed rather than replaced — sanded, stained, and restored for generations to enjoy. It adapts with your life, your taste, and your home’s story.

Proud to Partner with Real American Hardwood

We are proud to partner with the Real American Hardwood Coalition — a voluntary, industry-wide initiative dedicated to promoting the beauty, durability, and sustainability of American hardwoods.

Together, we celebrate a material that is Naturally Authentic® — rooted in stewardship, built for generations, and crafted by nature itself.

Real Hardwood, Healthy Home

Designed by Nature, Better for Living

The materials we bring into our homes directly impact the way we live, breathe, and feel.

Unlike many synthetic alternatives, hardwood does not trap dust, allergens, or contaminants in fibers or seams. Its smooth, natural surface helps promote cleaner indoor air. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) confirms that homes with hardwood flooring can support improved indoor air quality compared to other materials.

Beyond the physical benefits, the presence of natural wood has been shown to positively influence mood and well-being. Studies suggest that natural materials reduce stress levels, promote calmness, and create a balanced environment — often described as a subtle “Zen” effect.

Real wood isn’t just beautiful. It contributes to a healthier, more harmonious living space.

Solar Powered Since the Beginning of Time

Sustainability Rooted in Stewardship

Hardwood begins in nature’s original factory: the forest.

Powered entirely by sunlight, trees grow by capturing carbon and releasing oxygen — a natural cycle that supports both environmental health and long-term sustainability. Real American Hardwood® is one of the Earth’s original renewable materials.

American forests are responsibly managed as working forests, meaning they provide a renewable and steady supply of materials for wood products while maintaining ecological health, biodiversity, and long term productivity. Working forests ensure future generations can enjoy the many amenities that our greatest natural resource offers.

By supporting Real American Hardwood®, you are supporting responsible forestry, rural communities, and a future where industry and environment grow together.

YEAR: 1

1. The Pith

The soft, initial core. This tiny center carried the very first nutrients when the tree was a sapling.

2. The Heartwood

The central pillar. These older rings are filled with resins, providing the incredible strength American Hardwood is known for.

3. The Sapwood

The tree’s active plumbing. This younger wood (Xylem) transports water and minerals up from the roots.

4. The Cambium

The thin “engine room” of growth. This microscopic layer creates new wood on the inside and new bark on the outside.

5. The Bark

The protective armor. It shields the tree from fire and insects while the inner bark (Phloem) carries food.
